Bradford City Hall, West Yorkshire | Competition 2002 'Designs on Democracy' | Second Prize | with Ken Worpole

Bradford City Hall is the dominant presence in the city centre, but it has become isolated from the life of the city, and the growth of administrative uses has reinforced its character as a bureaucratic fortress. Our proposals looked to create a more direct relationship between the building and the adjacent public spaces by forming a new covered ‘street’ and informal public lounge within the old courts and lightwells.
