Hoeilaart

Cultural Centre, Hoeilaart, Belgium | Competition organised by the Vlaams Bouwmeester, 2007

The Flemish town of Hoeilaart sought to improve and extend its cultural centre. Through the retention of the existing teaching wings and performance hall, we proposed a new corner entrance and connecting wing with a café and teaching spaces. Two new courts; one open and wrapped by a new foyer, the other, virtual, a generous top lit library, were conceived as part of the town's important sequence of public spaces, creating additional opportunities for informal meetings between its 10,000 inhabitants.
